MICRONUTRITION MEETING

I attended the meeting on micronutrition in ophthalmology, which held by Thea Pharma in Bucharest on 31^st May 2014.

The field of micronutrition is currently being developed in ophthalmology and has gradually gained popularity. All aspects of micronutrients in retinal diseases, glaucoma and ocular surface diseases were discussed in the meeting. I gave a talk on “The importance of lid hygiene in ocular surface diseases” with Prof. Sait Eğrilmez.

I’d like to thank Thea Pharma for such a great organization.

LAUNCH MEETINGS OF TWO NEW DAILY DISPOSABLE CONTACT LENSES

I gave two talks on brand new daily disposable contact lenses, Biotrue ONEday (Bausch & Lomb) and Total Dailies 1 (Vision Care, Alcon, Novartis) contact lenses in Kayseri (28^th May 2014) and Istanbul (29^th May 2014). At these meetings, we discussed the pros and cons of the use of daily disposable contact lenses and important features of these two new daily disposable contact lenses.

TRIO MEETING

I attended the TRIO meeting in Bodrum on 16-18^th May 2014. The TRIO meeting was held by Allergan and its name stands for “Ophthalmology for Turkey”. The meeting included all popular topics of three main sections of ophthalmology (cornea, glaucoma, and retina). It was such a first big event organized by a pharmaceutical company.

I gave a keynote talk on the title of “Treatment of Dry Eye” with Prof. Messmer and shared my thoughts in another panel discussion regarding dry eye.

On behalf of my colleagues, I’d like to thank all the people from Allergan who expend considerable effort in organizing this meeting.
